Marmara Urban Forum

The Role of Relationships and Trust-building in Environmental Justice and Protection

Global Environment Conference
Eco Not Ego

In A Snapshot

The Marmara Urban Forum (MARUF) partnered with The Global Water Institute to intimately engage environmental scientists, practitioners working in the field, and local government officials, on multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural team-building. Milan Global was brought on to manage the event execution and post-event reporting.

  • We collaboratively developed goal clarity for the event alongside the host, keeping in mind prior discussions with stakeholders.

    Goals:

    • To connect people and deepen their understanding of the need for trust-building for water access and agriculture projects.

    • To discuss the multiple ways in which strong relationships can be transformative with regard to water access and food security in a diverse array of communities around the world.

  • We set a weekly meeting with each stakeholder group over the weeks leading to the event. This allowed us to curate the event playbook to meet each of their needs.

  • The 2-hour event was hosted on Zoom, with an intimate group of 25 select participants, including academics, environmental scientists, practitioners working in the field, and local government officials, from across the Middle East and US.

  • We created a post-event report that broke down key discussion points, provided an insightful analysis, and compiled resources to ensure actionable outcomes.
